Lawn scarification is an important procedure in both organic and synthetic lawn care programmes that can play an important part in revitilising your lawn.

Scarification is the process of removing dead grass otherwise known as thatch and also moss from the lawn which will allow vital light, air and water to roots of the grass sward where it most needed.

It also makes space for new healthy grass to grow.

If you do not scarify, debris will build up and lead to other problems. Thatchy and mossy lawns will not be very wear or drought tolerant.

Once the space has been created around the base of the grass plants, the trick is to encourage the grass to fill the space.
